Anja Mujic in her own words…
I want to create art with a lasting legacy, that is remembered for the mood that it sets and the way it makes another feel.
…
There is something special about a story told visually through film, or written as a poem, or composed as a melody; it preserves a moment in time but also creates something timeless, always available to evolve and transform.
…
Being an artist is a way of life and a state of being. It is the way I interact with the world around me and the way I see myself in the world’s eco system. My work is a reflection and impression of all that I am.
Anja Mujic in NPAFE’s words…
…Along with being an impressive dance artist and choreographer, Anja Mujic is an extraordinary creator ever passionate about sharing her music talents and writing skills.
…Originally from Australia of Bosnian heritage, Mujic has been based in Germany since 2018, having chosen Berlin as the best location for freelancing in an urban setting overflowing with performing arts opportunities and a great network of creators.
…Mujic’s projects are diverse and exclusive. Hers is a background as performer, choreographer, movement director, and even as a yoga teacher organizing retreats in Corfu, Greece.
…Among her creations, Mujic is quite proud of a duet dance performance with a hologram in the film “Dark Rain”. This remarkable video is a fast-moving stylized performance featuring stroboscopic flashing images accompanied by a dramatic and loud score of Japanese drumming. Choreographed by Billy Cowie and performed by Mujic with her own hologram, “Dark Rain” is a double bill commissioned by the Kyoto Experiment Festival and South East Dance which premiered in Kyoto in October 2013.
…Currently Mujic is co-creating “Saudade”, a dance video film, with the INDance dance company, headed by NPAFE AAlchemy initiative Co-Artistic Director Isabelle Nelson; target date for release is Spring 2024.
…Coupled with all this is Mujic’s passion for writing and performing poetry. Her first collection of prose and verse, “Love Letters To Places…” is a moving anthology inspired by her travel and love of people and places all around the world. Leschenault Press 2022 declared “Love Letters To Places…” as the number 1 best seller in its pre order period and has since issued the collection in Kindle and audiobook form.
…In an Instagram post, Mujic spoke of her experience publishing her first book by describing her inner emotions: “This collection of poetic prose and verse is a meditation on the present moment, super zoomed and relocated a million times, from within, to the most wonderful places without, and back again. It’s a journey that perhaps began physically and ended in a hall of mirrors, a reflection as infinite as we are multifaceted and as places are divine. It’s a love letter to a world that allowed me to be exactly as I needed to be and showed me nothing other than that”.
...To us and so many others, these Anja Mujic inner thoughts are inspiring, as is all that she creates. Mujic is already working on another book and is determined that it be a masterpiece. We believe it will, along with her presenting her poetry live in Berlin, and in her planned filmworks and stage performances.
