In BalletWorld’s own words…
Alex Bernikov: For many years, I had been helping my sister Katya (ballet dancer Ekaterina Krasyuk), almost since our childhood together. At age 10, she was chosen by the best academy (Vaganova Academy) and then completed ten years of rigorous training. We then traveled half of Europe in search of the right next step for career opportunities that would truly challenge her. It was a long and difficult journey, where I came to understand all those difficult challenges that artists like Katya face when searching for that “dream job”.
Then I asked myself: why not create a non-commercial resource where artists can easily find opportunities without all that commercial hype that other audition listing websites push so hard. That’s what BalletWorld is all about. And that is what we’re doing.
BalletWorld in NPAFE’s words…
Although there are a few web-based resources that list upcoming dance auditions, none equal the ad-free quality of information that BalletWorld presents in its easy-to-use Facebook-based inventory of auditions for the serious dance performing professional.
The fact that BalletWorld carefully evaluates information about auditions and dance companies before listing them is an exclusive “value add” for dancers. BalletWorld saves dancers the costly trial-and-error expense of false starts by pre-selecting only the opportunities that they recognize as the best, based on their own professional experience and hard lessons learned.
Free of commercial hyperbole, BalletWorld’s write-ups convey the goals and artistry of each of the dance companies it has identified. Its reach is world-wide, with a broad focus embracing classical ballet, contemporary ballet, and modern dance.
Alex Bernikov, BalletWorld’s “Mover In Charge”, works in St. Petersburg with other volunteers to convert data gathered over the years about dance company audition practices to provide the best available information to dance artists.
Bernikov works closely with his sister, Ekaterina Krasyuk, soloist at Universal Ballet in Seoul, whom he notes “…has traveled the whole world performing as a professional ballet dancer and soloist ….” Contrasting himself to Ekaterinia, Alex describes himself as her complete opposite, someone with a technical mindset, a career in senior sales and marketing management for several international companies, and specific skills in internet marketing.
The NPAFE team considers Alex and Ekaterina to be living a special dream: helping performing artists achieve their own special dreams. Both brother and sister have our deep respect.
You, too, will feel this as you use BalletWorld’s resources to discover emerging opportunities for advancing your own career in dance, or the careers of others whom you know and want to succeed.
