Grace Copeland in her own words…
…
My artistic practices are driven by a core value of loving the artists more than the art.
I am discovering a new love for combining visual and performing arts in unexpected collaborations. Something magical happens when the ability of the visual arts to freeze a moment in time collides with the ability of the performing arts to create a singular, fleeting moment.
In regards to my theatrical photography/videography in the musical theater and dance industries, I hope that my work can help generate new audiences, gain financial support, and find potential producing partners for new, original works.
Grace Copeland in NPAFE’s words…
…Would you believe that someone who had no background in dance or theater has created a great reputation in New York City for working with the best choreographers, performing artists, dancers, and musicians?
...Yes, that`s right! The NPAFE spotlight is falling on a truly creative and entrepreneurial human being – Grace Copeland – who with no formal training in dance or theater has established her name as a New York City go-to producer, director of theatrical media, dance filmmaker, and theater photographer.
…With the help of her friends and family who believed in her more than she may have believed in herself, Grace Copeland has forged enviable standing in the performing arts industry, more than merely happy that this allows her to do what she loves!
…Since the beginning of her professional career, Copeland`s works include originals such as “Hephzibah House Commercial” which she wrote, directed, filmed and edited, the “Unpolished Movement Portraits” dance series, “Dance In Development”, “Ryan Dunn: A Seasonal Playlist”, “IJM x Broadway” which she co-produced, and many other compelling projects which you can find by clicking on her Instagram and other links below.
…When NPAFE explored Copeland`s Instagram for the first time, we were profoundly impressed with the incredible effort she makes to keep her content up to date, her network of more than 3000 followers, the creative reels she shares about her daily life as a freelancer and filmmaker in NYC, and how she is capturing the work behind the scenes of filming, editing, and producing process. What an impressive way to grow her audience, to share her talent and projects, and to attract more people to gain from her know-how.
...What are Grace Copeland’s future goals? No doubt, she has very specific goals: to photograph the season banner of the New York City Ballet that gets hung over the side of Lincoln Center facing Broadway, to shoot the press photos when there is a new Elphaba entering Wicked on Broadway, and to work with Justin Peck.
… In a more general sense, Copeland is hoping 2024 will bring more opportunities for production photos and rehearsal photos for Broadway shows! “Other than that, I’m having a grand time just seeing what life throws my way – it never stops surprising me! I also hope to make more time to paint, finish adapting my favorite essay into a dance play, and pull my tap shoes out of the back of my closet.”
