Jordan James Bridge in his own words…
To be a great creator I believe you have to respond honestly, instinctively and with a unique perspective.
…
Whether for stage, screen or fashion, I find that my work is always immersive. Rebellion, escapism & euphoria are words that resonate deeply with me and I use these heavily in the creative process.
…
Society is conditioned to create narratives that comprehend why something is the way it is. This is why I love creating using dance as a medium in an abstract manner, it tells so many versions of a story, yet the observer generates that themselves. This is why I think my work connects with so many.
Jordan James Bridge in NPAFE’s words…
..The UK’s Jordan James Bridge is a brave dancer, choreographer, and director. He inspires young people to create more. The message behind Jordan`s videos: “You shouldn`t be ashamed of your feelings and emotions! You shouldn`t be ashamed of yourself!”.
…Bridge`s vision of his creative process is innovative and avant-garde and based on 3 main ideas: euphoria, rebellion, escapism. With his special sense of electronic music, he has connected with talented musicians all over the world and collaborated with them on projects to create amazing dance videos.
…Bridge likes to have his work speak from a personal place. What drives his creative process? An intrinsic movement language and nuances of interconnectivity, sensuality, and queer culture, absorbing from his own experience and leaning in with an abstract approach to both movement and stylistic decisions which fundamentally ground the work.
…Dance is always at the heart of Bridge’s work. When creating dance videos, he focuses on the mental and emotional states.
…As an example, in his “Locked Down” dance film, which he choreographed during the Covid pandemic, you experience the dancer`s feelings, and emotional and mental states.
…The dancer inhabits express ideas of loneliness, anxiety, freedom, and escapism, lacking the sensation of touch, moving through repetitive patterns and restricted space, discovering oneself and finding freedom are also notions which fuels the movement language.
…Besides producing dance films and creating his own dance company, Bridge teaches masterclasses and workshops within the UK and all over the world. He is currently exploring new ways to collaborate in his own time with different kinds of artists for film. He believes that it is crucial to exploit movement to the public on a wider basis of culture and entertain audiences through art.
…The NPAFE team greatly admires Bridge`s talent and the fascinating work he is doing. NPAFE and the AAlchemy not only support him as a dancer, choreographer, and director, but also as an individual who aims to instill queer rave culture and diversity in the heart of his work.
…NPAFE and AAlchemy will help Jordan fund the first stage of his “R&D” to be produced by his project-based company “Jordan Bridge Dance” and then help him secure funding for his future projects as well.
