Linabery in her own words…
I always say that there are two types of people, those who know directly what they’re feeling, and those (like me) who are overwhelmed by lots of emotions without knowing which ones they’re feeling. At the age of 14, thanks to a wonderful woman in Chicago, I discovered how to understand the language of my emotions and say to myself “ah there I have fear, there I have sadness, etc.”. Composing is one of the techniques that help me to know and understand what I’m feeling.

When I was little, my father worked at a music festival in France. So I could go backstage and meet the artists. One day, one of my favorite artists was standing in front of me. I smiled at him and he asked me to come and talk to him. We got talking and he asked me what my favorite song was. I told him: Take The Long Way Home. A few minutes later, Roger Hodgson from Supertramp sang it as the first song of the concert. I took it as a huge gift. Since that day, I haven’t stopped vibrating to the music.

…Lucile Grolleau goes by the stage name with Linabery. Only 23 years old. she has already swept away the NPAFE team. Words that might best describe her? Fascinating. Enchanting. Reassuring.
…Take the time to appreciate her YouTube “Shape of My Heart” cover originally performed by Sting and you’ll understand the soothing power of her voice. Speaking to us about the video, Linabery explained that she created it by herself. In that clip, Linabery shows her multiple talents, not only as a absorbing singer and musician but also as a creative filmmaker and editor. So much so that NPAFE believes it is magic!
…Music is a true vocation for Lucile. It’s been 9 years since Linabery first began composing her own songs. A first single called “Lune” is already available on Deezer and Spotify with already more than 14k views on YouTube! Her dear friend Louise Charbonnel accompanies her in “Lune” with guitar and voice; the live version shows their deep friendship and impressive collaboration: harmony and voice melded into one compelling air.
…One special impression that Linabery gave NPAFE when we first met her was that she is a formidable thinker and entrepreneur. She studies jazz and improv music at one of the best schools in France, the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood, where she is on her way to become a true expert in her field. Linabery the entrepreneur? Along with her studies, Linabery performs in clubs in Paris, in bars and also in weddings, with the best yet to come: She is composing and producing her first EP which is set to be released in May 2024!
…Linabery composes in French and in English. Her musical influences are folk, pop, soul, and jazz with the goal to appeal to young audiences that love American music. No wonder! Lucile has been strongly influenced by music from the US. She lived for a while in Chicago and comes every summer to the US to visit with her “second family”. One of her projects is to study music in Nashville so she can acquire deep knowledge of the American music industry.
