Elizabeth Gahl in her own words…
Art with Excellence: Classically trained at the Washington Ballet and artist with the world-renowned Compagnie José Montalvo, I aim to create work in the image of the incredible artists who made me who I am today.
…
Art with a Message: inspired by the role of water in today’s climate crisis, I developed my latest project, “Le Voyage d’une Goutte d’Eau” (the journey of a drop of water).
…
Art for All: from teaching and creating dance for diverse communities to performing in beautiful concert venues around the world, I see dance as an opportunity to encounter, to dialogue, and to enrich each other.
Elizabeth Gahl in NPAFE’s words…
…Originally from Washington D.C. in the US, Elizabeth “Liz” Gahl living right now close by the River Seine is using her remarkable skills in the art of choreography and dance to build on the uniquely rich history of Americans living in Paris.
…A multi-disciplinary creator-performer whose dance styles include flamenco, hip hop, African dance, ballet and contemporary dance, Gahl is an Artistic Director of her own Paris-based dance company Compagnie Elizabeth Gahl (Elizabeth Gahl Company) which she launched in 2018. A gifted creator-entrepreneur herself, she is today quite keen and determined to make her lastest project “Le Voyage d`Une Goutte d`Eau” (The Journey of a Drop of Water) a world-wide masterpiece.
…She’ll do it, too, given her remarkable background, education, and career including dancer with the Washington Ballet. Her 2012 decision to move to Paris and earn her Master`s Degree in International Affairs from the American University of Paris led to new opportunities not only in the USA but in and beyond Europe. You can learn more about Gahl’s professional path in her CV found below.
…Gahl`s perspective on today`s dance industry is special and holds significance for her influence. She cares not only about the beauty of movement in choreography but also about giving lots of time to teaching and collaborating with those who don’t have easy access to the performing arts. She organizes masterclasses for refugees and asylum seekers in Paris and offers dance masterclasses with pre-professionals in partnership with schools in the greater metro areas of Washington DC as well as Paris.
…Gahl even masterminded an initiative during covid centered on the Franco-Filipino cultural exchange project, engineering online workshops followed by a trip to Manila for a week of master classes and choreographic workshops all culminated by a live performance.
…Climate change is the main subject in the latest of Gahl`s works, “Le Voyage d`Une Goutte d`Eau” (The Journey of a Drop of Water). Collaborating with Fran Espinosa, Flamenco choreographic artist, and Claudio Cavallari as a Digital arts creator, Gahl and the team aim to showcase a new perspective on a human`s complex and challenging relationship with water interweaving contemporary choreographic performance with music, flamenco movements, and video projections.
…Bottom line? As with all of Liz Gahl’s creative endeavors, “Le Voyage d`Une Goutte d`Eau” will immerse its audience in the world of fantasy, vitality, and wonder, and earn public admiration from viewers, press and sponsors.
