“When Adrienne Clancy hits a wall, literally or figuratively, she doesn’t retreat. She climbs it.” So says the Washington Post.
As creator-choreographer-dancer of a “tour de force of unpredictable partnering,” Adrienne Clancy leads ClancyWorks performers and audience through one-of-a-kind explorations of architecturally informed partnering developed among diverse artists.
With its enviable 21 year record of success, ClancyWorks company members personify the value of thinking outside of the box. They has presented its work in traditional, non-traditional, and site-specific venues, and as part of culturally informed lecture-demonstrations within collaborative showcases.
Simultaneously dynamic and emotionally perceptive, Clancy’s choreography exemplifies an environment of mutual respect and creates images that embrace diversity and foster community awareness.
ClancyWorks Dance Company was founded by Artistic Director Adrienne Clancy in 2001. As the company’s Founding and Artistic Director, Adrienne Clancy dedicates her artistic life to ClancyWorks, a Maryland-based non-profit company of highly qualified local and national artists.
Clancy and her acclaimed ClancyWorks have been committed since Day One to meet the increasing public demand for excellence in the performing arts by presenting high quality dance performances and educational programs of the highest order.
Company performances have been presented in Australia, Colombia, England, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania , Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington D.C.
Central to ClancyWorks’ mission is expanding the relevance of dance in people’s lives, by demonstrating how creative movement can be used to solve conflicts, develop community cohesion, improve academic achievement, and promote civic responsibility.
The company is particularly known for its exploration of “architecturally informed” partnering work: a unique way of bringing people together within dance, not only an aesthetic statement, but also as a source of powerful images that embrace diversity and exemplify trust.
